In a nutshell...

The past two months(three, four months?) have been luscious.

Where do I begin?

Finishing exams was the best feeling in the world. As always. It got even better when we flew out to Canada that same night. (I  picked up a Starbucks to celebrate the occasion, first hot chocolate of the season!) Watching Michelle dance in the Mormon Tabernacle Christmas Concert was the perfect start to a perfect Christmas - I'll even let go of the fact that there was no snow -
It was that perfect.

The biggest highlight of the holidays was with out a doubt seeing family. (Seriously Crawford/Zemp children stop being so darn cute you are giving me Tim baby fever.) I also must mention the girls night out; simply fabulous. With the combination of our unique/frightening laughter, and shall we say risqué picture taking? Moxies will never know what hit 'em.

New Years was a riot. Tim and I crashed the singles party in Waterton. I apologize to anyone I made feel uncomfortable.
And might I add - best New Year's kiss ever.

Being back in Hawaii is so wonderful. I get my man back to myself, the sunshine and a fresh start at school. My classes are hard, but I love the challenge. (Maybe that's the reason why took on 18 credits (what!?) and committed to a marathon (what!?))

I am so looking forward to the adventures and opportunities this semester will bring!

Happy New Year from the Zemps!

Freak Show

My habits of procrastinating and doing "half effort" homework have finally caught up with me. Midterms = death. You'd think that classes like {chemistry.statistics.bio&accounting} would speak for themselves, probably something along the lines of "I'm a really hard class, focus on me or i'll literally bite you in the rear." But unfortunately, they don't. And I have learned the same lesson for the hundredth time:

If you're going to do something do it well.
otherwise it's a waste of your time.

Seriously. I need to stamp those words to my forehead. On a good note, my crammed yet very hard work has paid off. I've gotten A's on all my midterms thus far! Only one left. One last push before I can breath again. I can do this. I know I can.

Also, during my journey of mental labour, I have acquired a few skills. I am a very creative break taker. Some of my activities over the past few days have included:

Virtual Makeovers

Late night snacking - bowl of watermelon, most genius idea ever.

Jbiebs "Under the Mistletoe." Naturally.
P.S. He totally is a young version of Paul Wesley. (Stephen Salvator TVD)

Spending time with my Christmas love. Sorry Timothy, that is how you will be addressed from now on.

Modern family episodes

Gecko catching - I've caught two this week!

Bike riding.

Dancing.

It's been a rough, but wonderful couple of weeks.
Good luck to all of you taking midterms as well!

Sincerely
The Mrs.

I did it!

Sorry this is a bit past due, but...

I DID IT!

I ran my first Half Marathon! Two words to describe it would be

  brutal  &  AWESOME!

As for the race being brutal, the blame is on me. I had been previously warned that a "trail" half marathon is far different than a road one, but I chose to close my ears. I assumed that trail meant a little bumps and rocks here and there... I had no idea that it mean mountain here and everywhere! Okay so maybe I am exaggerating. But! I am being completely honest when I say that it felt like it was at least 40% uphill. My muscles and lungs handled everything great, my joints were another story. See, if I over exert my knees, they fill with fluid, and my knees were definitely not prepared for those hills. The last four miles were excruciatingly painful. Going downhill was the hardest part, even more so than uphill, just because of the pressure it put on my crybaby joints. When I reached the finish line, I started crying. I was so exhausted. Tim's embrace was the most wonderful thing to collapse into.

Moving on to the awesome part, I got to run this race with my Mother. She is amazing. She actually got lost for a while and ran 14.5 miles! She also did missionary work while running with a less active. Go Mamma! Also, while running the race I got to see some of the most beautiful scenes in the world. It was magical. It's also awesome knowing that I accomplished a really hard thing. Besides my knees hurting the first day, I wasn't a tad bit sore the day after - so awesome! I'm motivated, inspired! I want to run another one right now! Running that race was so rewarding. If you even have a little inkling of desire to maybe run one someday, start today!
It is so worth it.

The Lord works in mysterious ways.

So when I auditioned for choir, I also auditioned for a group called "broadway cabaret," It's a vocal group of 16 people who sing and dance to more theatrical and modern songs. For the auditions we learned a dance to "you can't stop the beat" from hairspray, I had zero doubts, I knew that I was going to get in. In fact I thought it was going to be way too easy (Hairspray is just my cup of tea you see.) At the audition I felt great, I nailed the dance and had a blast. It was to my shock when I found out that I didn't make it!? I was devastated. I just didn't understand. The next week were the dance team auditions, so I went and tried out. I was really nervous; dancing, like singing is my passion, and I hadn't really danced for an entire year. I felt rusty and out of my element, also, since i've been running, my legs have tightened up immensely and my flexibility wasn't where is used to be either. Nonetheless I worked my absolute hardest. There were 30 girls at tryouts and only 8 spots open for dancers.

I am now officially apart of the Seasider Dance Team!

Let me elaborate on what that means:

pompoms
toe touches
high ponytails
uniforms
basketball games
cheering
performing
halftime shows
red and gold
perm smiles
high kicks

I am so grateful and so blessed. Honestly if I had been apart of broadway cabaret I wouldn't of had time to do the dance team and probably wouldn't have even auditioned. The Lord knows the real desires of our hearts and he knows what is best for us. I didn't understand before, but I do now!

Go Seasiders!

I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm

Delicious

General Conference is awesome. The speakers are awesome, the talks are awesome and the spirit is just so...awesome. I love cuddling up with a notepad and listening to what the brethren have in store. I also love to make yummy food. I find it fitting,  while we are spiritually feasting, why not physically feast too? This weekend I made Cafe Rio salad dressing, and trust me, if I can make it, it's fool proof. You'll want to give this little number a try!
A delicious meal for a delicious occasion.

(Makes about 2 1/2 cups of dressing, recipe adapted from a recipe for Cafe Rio Dressing, Chicken, and Rice.)

2 cups prepared Ranch Dressing (I usually use a packet of Hidden Valley Ranch buttermilk mix, but you can make your own Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing or Buttermilk Dressing if you prefer)
1 small bunch cilantro, large stems removed (about 1/2 cup chopped cilantro)
2 large or 4 small tomatillos
1/2 tsp. minced garlic
1 tsp. Green Tabasco sauce or 1 diced jalapeno pepper

Prepare Ranch dressing according to directions on the package or recipe you're following and set aside.

Remove large cilantro stems, then wash leaves and spin dry or dry with paper towels. Add cilantro to food processor fitted with the steel blade and pulse until finely chopped. (If you don't have a food processor, I'd chop all ingredients well by hand and then blend dressing in a blender.)

Add tomatillos, garlic, lime juice, and Green Tabasco or chopped jalapeno to the food processor and pulse until ingredients are finely pureed. Add the 2 cups of prepared dressing and pulse just a few times, until ingredients are well combined. Chill dressing for an hour or two and serve.

So it's kinda a mental thing...

The other night I was about to go on a run. In my head, this run was huge! I was going to be running my longest distance yet, eight miles. For you eight miles may not be that far, but for me, achieving this personal goal was a big deal. I had been mentally preparing/dreading all day. Finally, when it came time to run, disaster struck: I couldn't find my nike+ shoe insert. How was I supposed to know when I had run eight miles without it? (So dramatic I am sometimes.) After ten minutes of vigorous searching I finally found it. Of course it had been in my shoe the entire time. Pushing my minor setback aside, I laced up and was all ready to go. Then disaster number two struck. I had found my shoe insert, but it wouldn't sync with my ipod. I was on the verge on a meltdown, all I could think about was how it was getting to dark outside to run and that I could have been two miles in already. After 20 minutes of trying to get it to work, I announced to Tim that I couldn't go on my run any more, it was all ruined. (Even more dramatic I am sometimes.)Then before I knew it, chariots of fire was playing and Tim was running towards me in slow motion. It totally won me over, I dropped the attitude and decided I could still do my run, and that instead of dreading it, I was going to enjoy it. Also on the plus side, my nike+ started working!

Attitude is everything

Some days a three mile run absolutely kills me, but those eight miles were honestly the easiest I've ever ran. And because of it, I've finally decided to commit to running the Gunstock Trail Half Marathon on October 15th. Should be an adventure!

Time flies.

I don't know why, but I always found it somewhat weird/awkward when people would comment on how much I had grown or changed. It's like they were complementing you... or at least you think? Or at least you hope? But then they aren't really saying anything to complement you either. How are you supposed to respond? With a thank you maybe? Anyways, despite my feeling for those types of comments I am going to make one myself.

Oh my lanta my Kennedy has grown up
She just made the cheer squad yesterday and I am so proud of her!

Congratulations Kennedy!

It seriously weirds me out that she is in high school...

Gyu-Kaku

Our new discovery,
Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ.
Seriously divine! So what happens is you order raw meat and cook in on a barbecue that is in the middle of your table! Everyone loves to play with food lets be real here. Of course you order other things besides raw meat, you can pick from lots of sides and appetizers; it's a-la-carte style. Great prices too!

...So if you're ever in town (or I know Cali has a lot of them,) try it! You will love it.

Naniloa Loop

Aloha! E komo mai nou ka hale!
{Welcome our house is yours!}

So this is our home.
I will take you through a little tour and tell you a little bit about Hawaiian living!

This is where we do homework and make really yummy food!
Sometimes the ants like to join us, I've told them many times that our house is not ant friendly, but they keep forgetting,
so then we -excuse my language- kill them.

This is where we sleep! There is a heavenly breeze that goes right through the window beside us. (You can kind of see the curtain blowing.) It is so lovely.

This is where we relax! It's like the multipurpose space; we eat, sleep, watch movies, do yoga, you name it!

The closet is where I sing so I don't bother the neighbours, and I just took a picture of our dish cupboard because it's my favourite part of the house. :)

That's all for now, come visit any time!

Post Audition

So my choir audition was interesting...
I sang "On my own" from Les Mis, and if you haven't heard the song it is set quite low. So naturally, since I was singing a lower/belt song I spent all day singing in my lower range. As soon as I walked into the audition room, Mr. Benlap told me that he was only going to hear a little bit of my song. Okay, sweet no big deal. I only sang two lines before then he stopped me, and I didn't even get close to the meaty parts! And then he asked me to sing a really high song from the hymn book... gulp. I was definitely not warmed up for this. But I think it went okay... because then he told me to come to call backs, and said:

"I look forward to working with you"

So I think that I got into Choir?

Yay!

Home!

Happy.
Happy. Happy. Happy.
This week we moved into T.V.A. and the first thing that came out of Tim's mouth was, "This is perfect, this is home." He couldn't of said it better! It feels so good to be settled. This move was actually our fourth as a couple - crazy! At some point I will post pictures of our new home, but before then I just wanted to make a tribute to our old house.

There are three things that I will severely miss:

The view in our back yard with the private beach

Our secret spot

Living next to Jack Johnson
(Seriously, we never  saw him, but there was this pimp house beside us, security cameras and all! I just know it was Jack's summer house.)

The view
The spot
We will miss you old house!
